TV chef Gordon Ramsay has received an OBE from the Queen at an investiture ceremony at Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.
The host of Channel 4's The F-Word said he had "a nice chat" with the Queen, but "didn't rib her" about not being chosen to cook her 80th birthday meal.
Ramsay, known for his colourful language, feared he would miss the ceremony because his flight from London suffered delays.
Former Fairground Attraction singer Eddi Reader also collected her MBE.
Ramsay wore a black suit with a white shirt and tie for the ceremony, but removed the tie as soon as it was over.
"I kept it on for the most important part and the shirt is a bit small, so I was holding my breath, going blue in the face," he said.
"But I would never attempt addressing the Queen with no tie on."
'Amazing ceremony'
He added he was happy to have been presented with the honour in his native Scotland rather than in London.
"It was an amazing ceremony," he said. "What I liked was the intimacy."
Ramsay added he would "love to come back to Scotland" to set up a restaurant and would be looking at a possible venue in Edinburgh during his trip.
His previous venture, Amaryllis in Glasgow, closed in 2004.
Singer Reader described her honour as "lovely" and said she discussed a performance of Auld Lang Syne she had given at the opening of the Scottish Parliament two years ago.
She told the Queen she had argued with the orchestra about the key in which the song should be played, which gave the monarch "a wee giggle", she said.
Karen Matheson from the Celtic group Capercaillie was presented with an OBE at the Edinburgh investiture ceremony.
