Osbournes win Silver Clef honour

The Osbournes Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne have been honoured for their contribution to the music industry at a ceremony in London.

The couple were among seven Silver Clef award recepients, which included best British band for the Kaiser Chiefs.

Girls Aloud's cover of See The Day won best British song, while The Eagles received a lifetime achivement award.

The Silver Clef awards are held annually to raise funds for Nordoff Robbins, which provides music therapy for adults and children.

Bronze bust

Other winners at the awards included an international award for the Foo Fighters, best new artists for Editors and the classical award for Welsh opera star Bryn Terfel.

A charity auction also took place at the lunch, with prizes including a VIP trip to the Grammy awards in Los Angeles.

The Osbournes bid for items at the auction, with Sharon purchasing a bronze bust of John Lennon for £9,500, while daughter Kelly spent £9,000 for a print of The Beatles by artist Peter Blake.

The auction raised a total of almost £200,000.

On collecting their award, Sharon Osbourne said: "We're all touched by music. We get married to music, we cry to music, we make love to music - if you can find a two-minute song, that is," she added, smiling at her husband.
