Veteran producer Mel Brooks has announced he is adapting his 1974 movie Young Frankenstein for the stage.
Brooks, also behind film and theatre cult classic The Producers, is writing the score and hopes to raise money for the show when it is complete.
"It is going to be wonderful," said the 79-year-old.
His spoof Frankenstein film starred Gene Wilder and Marty Feldman. The Producers has been enjoying a West End revival since 2004.
Academy Award
Wilder also starred in the original The Producers movie as Leo Bloom and received an Oscar nomination for his efforts.
The film, made in 1968, won Brooks an Academy Award for best screenplay, his one and only recognition from the industry during his movie career.
It went on to become a successful Broadway play 35 years after it first appeared in cinemas, starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick, who went on to star in last year's remake of the film.
Brooks' other films include Robin Hood: Men In Tights and Blazing Saddles.
