Ex-Spandau star recovers from op

Tony Hadley Former Spandau Ballet singer Tony Hadley is recovering in hospital in north London following an operation to remove his appendix.

Mr Hadley was taken to the Whittington Hospital after complaining of stomach cramps, his manager John Glover said.

The singer, 45, will remain in hospital for a couple of days, Mr Glover added.

Spandau Ballet - one of the most popular groups of the 1980s - had a string of hits, including Gold and True, before the band split up in 1990.

However, Hadley's solo career in the 1990s did not replicate the success he enjoyed with the group in the 1980s.

In 1999 Hadley, and former Spandau Ballet members Steve Norman and John Keeble lost a court battle over royalties with their former bandmates Gary and Martin Kemp.

In 2003 Hadley was back in the spotlight when he took part and eventually won the ITV1 pop star comeback show Reborn In The USA.
