Liam and Patsy's rocky ride

Liam and Patsy's rocky ride
Oasis singer Liam Gallagher may be all smiles after his wife Patsy gave birth to their first child but as recently as March this year their marriage was looking decidedly shaky.

At that time, police officers were called to the couple's £1.25m home in Primrose Hill in north London after neighbours complained about their screaming and shouting.

The trouble, it would seem, was just another hiccup in a union dominated by a string of break-ups and make-ups reported with relish by the tabloid press.

Six months earlier, Liam was denying reports that the relationship was on the rocks after he allegedly threw Patsy out of their home following a drinking session.

A spokesman for Creation Records, Oasis's label, said: "We have heard this sort of story time and time again - Patsy and Liam are always being written off."

The row was later reported to be the culmination of a series of disputes over the singer's womanising and wild behaviour.

But the separation was not prolonged and within four weeks Patsy was again spending nights with her husband after he apologised and promised to reform.

Volatility has been, at least on the surface, one of the most stable factors of their relationship which began in 1995.

By March the following year, the first signs that their coming together was going to lead to fireworks were being seen.

Patsy returned from a trip to Dublin alone, after accusing Liam of flirting with former Brookside actress Anna Friel at a party.

In May 1996, Patsy was reportedly seen kicking Liam's car after a row over a claim that he was seeing her supermodel friend Kate Moss.

Six months on and there was more trouble when Liam was arrested on London's Oxford Street on suspicion of possessing cocaine.

Despite the ups and downs, the couple eventually married in April 1997, but within two months they were at it again.

The first post-nuptial row led to a three-day separation and within a month of getting back together, Liam was off again.

Reconciliation followed, but just 17 months into the marriage Patsy was reported to have consulted solicitors about a divorce.

Even in March this year Liam was denying reports that his wife was expecting their first baby.

But judging by his ecstatic response to Lennon Francis's arrival, calmer times could now lie ahead.
