A homeless man who repeatedly asked to pray with Passion of the Christ director Mel Gibson has been ordered to stand trial on charges of stalking.
Zack Sinclair, 34, was first arrested in September after allegedly turning up at Gibson's home and local church and demanding to pray with the actor.
Hollywood star Gibson, 48, said he found Mr Sinclair's behaviour "alarming, harassing and annoying".
Mr Sinclair is currently in jail after violating a previous restraining order.
He was first arrested on 20 September after he allegedly went to the gate of Gibson's estate twice and asked to pray with the actor.
Following his arrest, Mr Sinclair pleaded not guilty to six misdemeanour charges including trespassing and disorderly conduct.
However he was arrested again on 7 October, one day after Gibson was granted a restraining order barring Mr Sinclair from approaching or contacting the Lethal Weapon star.
Following his second arrest, the original charges were replaced with a single, more serious, felony charge of stalking, to which Mr Sinclair pleaded not guilty.
Mr Sinclair allegedly sent letters to Gibson and his family describing his prayers for the actor, cited biblical verse and praised The Passion of the Christ.
In court papers, Gibson - a devout Catholic, with seven children - expressed concern for "the safety of my family".
He added that the alleged letters were "alarming, harassing and annoying".
Gibson co-wrote, directed, produced and financed controversial film The Passion of the Christ, which depicted the last 12 hours in Christ's life.
It has gone on to become the highest-earning historical epic at the worldwide box office.
