Sinatra wine launched

Frank Sinatra The family of Frank Sinatra is launching a wine dedicated to the legendary entertainer's memory.

Made in California's Santa Ynez Valley, Sinatra Meritage Blend's makers say they played vintage tracks by the performer at each stage of the production process.

"We tried to match the song with the process - for instance we played the upbeat Old Devil Moon during the crushing of the grapes, but chose the more sombre I Can't Get Started during the pressing," said winemaker Andrew Kahn.

"Our goal was to create a limited quantity of the best possible wine in honour of what Sinatra had given us for so many years."

The Sinatra estate has allowed photos and paintings by the performer to be used to promote the wine, and part of the proceeds will go to the Frank Sinatra Foundation, the family's charity.

Sinatra died in May 1998, aged 82, following a heart attack.
