Blur's Damon to be a dad

Blur's Damon to be a dad
Damon Albarn, the lead singer with band Blur, is to become a father later this year.

The musician, who is at number one in the album charts with Blur's latest release 13, is expecting a child with artist girlfriend Suzi Winstanley.

Albarn, who is currently in the US to promote Blur's sixth album, has been seeing his partner for nearly a year and their child is thought to be due in October.

A friend who confirmed the rumour said: "They're absolutely delighted. The pair of them are completely smitten with each other."

They two got together after Albarn split-up from with his partner of eight years, Justine Frischmann, from the band Elastica.

Albarn is the latest in a line of pop stars who are becoming parents.

Spice Girls Victoria Adams and Mel B became mothers in 1999 and All Saints singer Melanie Blatt gave birth last year.
