Madonna has gone straight to number one in the UK album chart with her new release American Life.
The immediate success of American Life in Sunday's chart comes after the first single taken from the album failed to make number one last week.
The album has also received mixed reviews compared to her previous release Music.
The single American Life however slipped from number two to 12th position. The top of the singles chart was taken by the teenage boy group Busted.
Busted knocked Oliver Cheatham and Room 5 from the top spot after a reign of four weeks.
They dropped to number four with the dance track Make Luv.
The number two position was also taken by a new release, Lisa Maffia's debut single All Over.
Fame Academy winner David Sneddon's second single Don't Let Go entred the chart at number three.
Other new entries at the top of the chart included DMX's X Gon' Give It To Ya, which came in at number six.
The White Stripes, whose album Elephant occupied the top spot in the album charts two weeks ago, debuted at number seven with Nation Army.
Triple Eight's track Knock Out entered the charts at number eight.
Junior Senior' Move Your Feet took the ninth position and Kym Marsh's single, Cry, completed the top 10.
