Doon loses Fame Academy vote

Doon MacKichan Comedian Doon MacKichan has become the latest student to be ousted from Celebrity Fame Academy.

The Smack the Pony star failed to win sufficient viewers' support for her version of the classic Nina Simone song, My Baby Just Cares For Me.

She gave an emotional farewell to her fellow classmates, saying: "It's been a miracle being here, see you on Friday."

The show proved the most popular so far, attracting a bigger audience than the final of the Fame Academy series last year.

An average audience of 7.8 million tuned in to the Comic Relief show. peaking at 9.4 million when Doon was evicted.

Doon was drafted onto the Comic Relief-inspired show at the last moment after former Spurs star David Ginola pulled out.

'Absolutely right'

After Wednesday's performances the public voted to save Casualty stars Will Mellor and Kwame Kwei-Armah.

They were then deadlocked over whether to save an Academy place for Doon or Ruby Wax.

That meant that Doon had to be told to pack her bags, because she received the fewest votes.

She told Ruby: "It's absolutely right, you've pulled it out of the bag every single time."

Viewers' votes

The first star to be voted out of the Academy was TV presenter Paul Ross.

He was followed by Children's TV presenter Fearne Cotton, who performed a poor version of Driftwood by Travis.

Comedian Jo Brand, actor John Thompson and presenter Ulrika Jonsson swiftly followed.

The stars fight for survival in the Academy by attempting to win viewers' votes with their singing and dancing prowess.
