He will receive the Sir Peter Ustinov/Comedy Network Award at the Banff Television Awards on 10 June.
The Monty Python star said: "I feel very, very humble that I have been chosen to receive this wonderful award.
"Of course, I'm not going to pretend that I don't deserve it. Obviously I do."
McGregor appeals for polar bears
Actor Ewan McGregor has written to the US government pleading for the release of seven Arctic polar bears which he claims are being ill-treated at a Puerto Rico circus.
The Moulin Rouge star became interested in polar bears last year when he was asked to host a BBC documentary on them in Canada.
Writing on behalf of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, he wants the bears confiscated and placed in a US zoo.
The charity are offering to pay for their relocation.
Church turns 16
Singer Charlotte Church has held a secret party at a nightclub for up to 200 friends to celebrate her 16th birthday.
There was no alcohol served at her birthday bash in Cardiff and a London DJ played R&B and soul tunes and a buffet meal was laid out for the guests.
Club owner Giovanni Malacrino said: "She was just a 16-year-old girl with all her friends - a really typical, fantastic, fun-loving 16-year-old."
Church will be singing at the closing ceremony of the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics on Sunday.
'Unknown' to face Arnie
An unknown actor has reportedly been picked to face Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.
Kristanna Loken will play the latest indestructible terminator, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
It is her first major big screen movie, having appeared on a variety of US TV shows including Mortal Combat and Pensacola: Wings of Gold.
Jonathan Mostow, who directed U-571 and Breakdown, takes the helm in the third of the series.
MacCorkindale returns to UK TV
Simon MacCorkindale has signed up to appear on BBC medical drama Casualty.
He will appear as the new consultant Harry Harper.
MacCorkindale has starred in feature films including Death on the Nile and US TV shows Manimal and Falcon Crest.
He said: "Having spent so much of the last 15 years working abroad, I'm really pleased to be back filming on home turf."
