The show, which is in its fourth series, picked up best television comedy.
Co-stars Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Parker were on hand at the ceremony in Beverly Hills to see Golden Globe trophies added to their 2001 Emmy Award.
Six Feet Under, written by American Beauty Oscar winner Alan Ball, won best television drama and a best supporting actress gong for Rachel Griffiths.
War epic
The series, centred around a dysfunctional family running a funeral home, beat off stiff competition from the usual suspects such as The Sopranos and The West Wing.
The best mini-series award went to the critically acclaimed war epic Band of Brothers.
Executive produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, and part-funded by the BBC, the 10-part series told the story of Easy Company's heroics during World War II.
Drama newcomers Alias and 24 also fared well at the ceremony, both of which have been bought up by Sky One to show in the UK.
The best supporting actress award went to Jennifer Garner for the CIA drama Alias, which debuted in the US in 2001.
Kiefer Sutherland won the best dramatic actor award for 24, the title referring to the 24 episodes which roll out in real time tracking 24 continuous hours of CIA action.
Powerful drama
Charlie Sheen cemented his comeback from drink and drug addiction by winning best comedy actor for his role in Spin City.
He arrived at the event with his new fiance, Bond actress Denise Richards on his arm.
Stanley Tucci was voted best supporting actor for his role in Conspiracy as Lieutenant Colonel Adolf Eichmann during the 1942 conference which decided the fate of Jews in Nazi Germany.
The powerful drama also stars Kenneth Branagh and Colin Firth and will be screened in the UK from Friday 25 January on BBC One.
