Geri scores fourth solo hit

Geri Halliwell at the Bridget Jones premiere
Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell has knocked S Club 7 off the top of the singles chart with It's Raining Men, from the Bridget Jones' Diary film soundtrack.

It is her fourth solo number one, and the 11th number one she has appeared on - including seven with the Spice Girls.

Lindsay
S Club 7's Don't Stop Movin' drops down to number two after one week at the top.

The band are currently celebrating their first American success after Never Had a Dream Come True hit number 10 across the Atlantic.

But Lindsay - Britain's Eurovision entrant - could reach no higher than number 32.

It is a blow to the country's hopes in the contest which takes place in Copenhagen on 12 May, signalling little support in her home country.

REM
Jennifer Lopez has entered the chart at number three, while Imitation of Life, the first single from REM's latest album was a new entry at number six.

American all-girl trio Destiny's Child, who had a number one in the singles chart two weeks ago, mirror that feat in the album chart this week.

Survivor, a new entry, pushes Dido and Stereophonics to numbers two and three respectively.

And the influence of Bridget Jones' Diary is not confined to Geri Halliwell's success.

Gabrielle's album, Rise, enjoyed a massive boost - leaping from number 81 to number 5 - thanks mainly to the success of her single Out of Reach, which appears on the soundtrack.

Out of Reach is still in the top five of the single chart.
