UK garage DJ wounded

Neutrino
One half of chart-topping British garage duo Oxide and Neutrino has been shot in the leg and arrested while on a night out in London.

Neutrino was walking back to his car from the Velvet Room nightclub when he was accidentally shot in the leg in a scuffle, according to his record company. The wound was not life-threatening.

He drove himself to hospital but was arrested and taken to Charing Cross police station, where he was kept overnight and released without charge.

Oxide and Neutrino
Oxide and Neutrino had a UK number one hit in May 2000 with the single Bound 4 Da Reload, which sampled the theme tune from TV drama Casualty.

Police confirmed that an incident did take place, but declined to give details.

A spokesman for his record company, EastWest, said: "He was out with Oxide last night, and was walking back to his car from a club when he was held at gunpoint.

Flesh wound

"Through that, a scuffle broke out, and the gun went off accidentally as far as Neutrino could make out. That was why it hit his leg.

The spokesman said it was a flesh wound to his calf, and that the gun "definitely" did not belong to Neutrino.

"The hospital alerted the police and Neutrino was arrested and taken to Charing Cross police station.

"He was held overnight and released this afternoon. The attacker had run off and they hadn't arrested anybody else.

"He's in a fair amount of pain, but it wasn't life threatening, fortunately."

The pair were nominated for a Brit award for best newcomers in the dance category in this year's awards.
