S Club 7 score chart hat-trick

The single knocked American trio Destiny's Child off the top of the UK charts where they had been for just one week.

Singer Bradley McIntosh, 20, said: "I'm so happy about today's number one news."

The band also celebrated their number one by handing over £200,000 to Children in Need, which they raised with their charity single Never Had A Dream Come True.

The seven-piece band visited a London bank to announce their donation.

'Great song'

McIntosh said of his lead vocals on the number one song: "It's the first time I've taken the lead and was a bit nervous at first, about how people would react to it.

"I feel really supported by our fans now it's gone to number one - it's a great song, we love it."

S Club 7's Paul Cattermole said: "When we went to number one with our single for Children In Need, it was a great feeling.

"We knew that the more singles we sold, the more money we'd have to give to the charity. When we announced the amount raised today, it felt really good, it's a lot of money for a good cause."

The number one single comes just a month after the three men in the band were cautioned for possession of cannabis.
