Weakest Link hits small screen
TV quiz show The Weakest Link is set to expand into the world of computer games, with interactive versions being developed for CD-Rom and Sony PlayStation.
BBC Multimedia has teamed up with development company Activision, which could create games for Nintendo consoles under the deal.
The news comes hot on the heels of the show's US debut, which received mixed verdicts from TV critics.
A spokeswoman for the BBC said: "We are going to stick as closely as possible to the format of the show to make a user-friendly game for all the family."
Games will be sold around the globe as the show is sold
to different territories by BBC Worldwide, and it is expected they will be available to buy by October.
The spokeswoman was unable to say how much the deal was worth.
This is not the first gameshow to be turned into a computer game.
Millionaire
In March it was announced that an interactive version of ITV quiz Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? will be launched on digital TV.
Viewers will be able to play the game through their remote controls, and will be able to take part and win prizes without leaving their sofa.
An internet version of the show will also be launched - so the public can play against television contestants and other net users via their computers.
