The book publishing industry employs 36,000 people in the UK and raises more than £4bn for the economy every year.
The event is another of the Royal theme days when the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh undertake a series of engagements all connected with the same subject.
The Queen and the Duke will begin their day at Bloomsbury Publishing's London offices - the company which publishes the Harry Potter books.
They will also visit a London bookstore, a library and a secondary school.

At the publishing house, the Queen will meet the author JK Rowling and the writer Joanna Trollope.
Ms Rowling, 35, was at Buckingham Palace on 2 March, to receive an OBE for services to children's literature.
Technical tour
The Duke of Edinburgh will be shown technical aspects of the industry.
They will then visit Waterstone's bookstore in Piccadilly, central London.
The Queen will then go to Pimlico Library, south-west London, where she will meet children at a homework group as well as being shown the work of librarians.
She will then visit Morpeth Secondary School, Bethnal Green, in London's East End, where the Poet Laureate Andrew Motion will be taking part in
a poetry workshop.
In the evening the Queen will play host to 600 people from the publishing industry at a Buckingham Palace reception.
Previous royal theme days have included a look at the work of Britain's volunteers where the Queen met Victim Support volunteers and children who help tackle bullies.
