Wall Street Market Report

Wall Street traders

(Open): US shares continued on their upward path after Tuesday's strong gains, following upbeat job data and a further fall in the price of oil.

The Federal Reserve stepping in to add more liquidity to financial markets - including offering funds to commercial banks - also buoyed investors.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 122.62 points, 1.1% at 11,520.18, while the Nasdaq gained 0.4% to 2,329.2.

The slide in oil reduced fears about inflation and the impact on consumers.
