US retail giant Target has become the latest company to recall Chinese-made toys because of safety fears.
Target has issued a voluntary recall of 350,000 items after discovering that their paint contained excessive levels of lead.
The Chinese government reacted to the recall, the latest in a spate of such moves, by stressing its own concerns.
Beijing "retains a consistent attitude towards new product quality problems" a commerce ministry spokesman said.

The recall concerns two ranges of children's products, Happy Giddy Gardening Tools and Sunny Patch Children's Chairs.
Target issued the recall in cooperation with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The CPSC has advised that consumers "should stop using recalled products immediately".
This move comes after RC2 Corporation announced a recall of some 270,000 wooden toy trains sold under the Thomas and Friends logo.
These items were made in China and were also found to exceed the CPSC's standards for lead paint levels.
