The number of people killed in southern China by Typhoon Chanchu has risen to at least 16.
The deaths happened in Guangdong and Fujian provinces, where houses were destroyed in floods and landslips.
More than a million people have been taken to safety. Chanchu is the strongest typhoon on record to have hit the region during the month of May.
In Vietnam, at least 20 fishermen have died after their boats sank in the storms.
At least 91 others remained missing on Friday.
The weather is now slowly improving, with the typhoon weakening as it goes up China's coastline.
According to officials, Chanchu has claimed at least eight lives from flooding and landslides in Fujian province. Four other people are missing.
Another eight died in nearby Guangdong province, where houses collapsed in a landslide in Shantou city.
Earlier this week, at least 37 people were killed by the typhoon in the Philippines.
Most of those who died were drowned when a boat capsized off Masbate, south of the main island, Luzon.
An official with the Hong Kong Observatory told the Associated Press that Chanchu was the "most intense" typhoon on record to strike in the South China Sea at this time of year.
But he added that the ferocity of Chanchu did not necessarily mean that this year's storm season would be more active than usual.
