A militant Islamic group in Indonesia has renounced the use of violence in its campaign to close bars, cafes and other entertainment spots.
A lawyer acting for the group, the Islamic Defenders Front, said that clashes in the past had given the Front a bad name and were counterproductive.
The move comes after the Front's leader, Habib Rizieq Muhammad Shihab, was placed under house arrest following his release from police detention on Tuesday night.
Mr Shihab was arrested along with nine of his supporters following the Bali bombing last month.
Meanwhile, the authorities in Indonesian capital, Jakarta, say they plan to deploy at least 4,000 officers to enforce a decree on the closure of nightclubs and entertainment venues during Ramadan.
