Vietnamese leaders debate reshuffle

The heads of Vietnam's ruling Communist Party are meeting to prepare for a session of the country's new National Assembly, where it is expected significant changes to the party's cabinet line-up will be announced.

Reports say the 150-strong Central Committee will finalise details of the cabinet reshuffle, which will officially be approved during the month-long session of the National Assembly later this month.

The Prime Minister, Phan Van Kai, is expected to retain his position until at least next year, and it is believed Vietnam's President Tran Duc Luong will have his term extended.

Cabinet positions in line for change include those of industry, planning and investment, and health.
