US President George Bush's schedule for his trip to Japan, South Korea and China.

17 February:

Arrives in Tokyo.

18 February:

Visits Meiji Shrine.

Meets Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, and backs his efforts to reform the Japanese economy.

19 February:

Breakfast meeting with business leaders from US and Japan.

Mr Bush addresses the Japanese parliament, or Diet. He thanks Japan for its support following the 11 September attacks on the US, and says the two countries have formed one of the great and enduring alliances of modern times.

Lunch with emperor and empress of Japan.

Flies to Seoul, South Korea.

20 February:

Mr Bush holds talks with South Korean President Kim Dae-jung in Seoul. There are angry street protests over Mr Bush's references to North Korea being part of an "axis of evil".

The two presidents visit an observation post at the demilitarised zone (DMZ) on the border with North Korea. Standing at the unused Dorasan train station, Mr Bush calls on North Korea to open its border and return to dialogue.

21 February:

Mr Bush flies to Beijing, China.

At a joint news conference with President Jiang Zemin, Mr Bush urges China to respect human rights, including religious freedoms.

22 February:

Breakfast with Premier Zhu Rongji.

In a speech at Qinghua University - broadcast live across China - he said America had proved that freedom did not bring chaos, and religious faith provided a moral core for a nation.

Ends Asia tour and returns to Washington.
