In pictures: Aceh rebels fly the flag

Security forces in the Indonesian province of Aceh have torn down separatist flags as rebels of the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) mark the 25th anniversary of their struggle for independence.

There have been reports of clashes with the army reporting at least two rebels killed.

But the streets of the capital, Banda Aceh, remained largely deserted except for army patrols.

Free Aceh Movement (GAM) rebels said they held ceremonies at secret locations in the jungle.
