In pictures: The tragedy of the Ehime Maru
Anger was aroused in Japan over the sinking of a fishing trawler by an American nuclear submarine, killing nine people. The commander of the American submarine was reprimanded at a final hearing into the accident and forced to retire from the US Navy.
