The United States coastguard has been searching the Florida Straits for five members of the Cuban national baseball team -- they are feared lost after fleeing Cuba in a small boat a week ago.
The men, four players and a coach, were following the trail of another Cuban star, Orlando Hernandez, who crossed from Havana to the Bahamas and then Costa Rica at the end of last year.
With the baseball season about to start, Hernandez has just signed for the New York Yankees team for more than six million dollars.
One of missing players, Jorge Toca, (like Orlando Hernandez) was given a lifetime playing ban by the Cuban authorities, for saying he wanted to join a major American baseball team.
