US child molester gets 152 years

Dean Arthur Schwartzmiller enters court A man in the US state of California has been sentenced to 152 years in prison for abusing two 12-year-old boys.

Dean Arthur Schwartzmiller, 65, was convicted last year on 11 charges of child molestation and one charge of possessing child pornography.

He had previous convictions for child sexual assault in other states.

When he was arrested at his home in San Jose in June 2005, police found detailed accounts of sex acts with hundreds of children.

The notebooks also contained pornographic photographs of children.

During the trial, Schwartzmiller said the memoirs were fictional.

But prosecutors said he had abused children for several decades and was one of the most prolific paedophiles in the US.

"Based on his logs and manuscripts, we figure a minimum of 250 (victims)," said Santa Clara county prosecutor Steve Fein.
