And for 71-year-old Castro, meeting two of the world's most famous beauties was "very spiritual", according to the pair.
The three had spent more than an hour-and-a-half in private talks after the models had completed a photographic assignment in Havana.
At a press conference after their talks at the Palace of the Revolution, Ms Campbell said she had been inspired by Castro, and compared him to President Nelson Mandela of South Africa.
"These are two men in the world that I think are an inspiration to everyone ... they have fought with integrity to stick to their beliefs," she said.
"No seduction"
She said: "I'm so nervous and flustered because I can't believe that I met him."
Asked by a Spanish reporter whether they had felt "seduced" by Castro, she replied quickly: "No man has ever seduced me and I wanted to meet him, so, no."
The talks ranged from the personal to the professional, with Castro telling the pair about his experiences as Cuban leader, and asking about their modelling.
Ms Moss said he asked them about their work and their families, and revealed that he was an avid reader of magazines in which they featured.
Although he was familiar with their print work, the women said, he was surprised at how different they looked in the flesh.
"He's a really, really intelligent person," said Ms Campbell. "He said that seeing us in person was very spiritual."
