Peruvian President shows model of Japanese residence
The President of Peru, Alberto Fujimori, has displayed for the first time the model of the Japanese ambassador's residence in Lima which was used to prepare the rescue operation to end the hostage crisis last April.
Peruvian soldiers stormed the building and released more than seventy hostages held by armed rebels from the Tupac Amaru Revolutionary Movement.
Mr Fujimori said that the full-scale model of the diplomatic residence included the underground tunnels used by troops to enter the building, and all other details -- even the guerrilla's flag which flew over the building for more than one-hundred-and-twenty days.
