Mexico goalkeeper's father seized

Mexico goalkeeper's father seized
Armed men have kidnapped the father of international goalkeeper Jorge Campos, according to reports from Mexico.

Alvaro Campos was seized in Acapulco on Wednesday from a football field named after his son, according to relatives.

Correspondents say there have been numerous kidnappings for ransom in the region in recent years but Mr Campos is by far the highest profile victim.

One relative said a gang of between six and eight men armed with rifles kidnapped Mr Campos.

Police in Acapulco have refused to comment on the case.

Jorge Campos was goalkeeper for Mexico's national team in the France 98 and US 94 World Cups.

He became almost as well known for his brightly coloured kits, which he designs himself, as for his goalkeeping talents.
