Prosecutors in Mexico say they have arrested the headmistress of a primary school and 11 other people for their alleged role in a child-trafficking ring.
Those detained include a number of teachers and the wife of a high-ranking military officer.
The prosecutors say that the group were buying children for $1,000 - $2,000 and selling them on for about $5,000 to Mexican couples who were unable to have children.
During the operation two infants - including a baby less than one month old - were rescued.
The authorities say they are investigating the disappearance of at least 12 other children.
