Mexican horsemen ride along US border

About 8,000 Mexican horse riders are taking part in a parade along a 50 kilometre stretch of the border with the United States to underline the traditions linking the indigenous people on both sides of the frontier.

The Mexican Minister of the Interior, Santiago Creel, leaders of the Cherokee Nation in the United States and the governors of the Mexican border states Nuevo Leon, Coahiula and Tamaulipas are among those taking part in the parade that left from Hidalgo.

The Mexican President, Vicente Fox, is due to join the riders on Sunday for a couple of hours before they arrive at their final destination of Nuevo Laredo.
