Pub damaged by suspicious fires

A pub has been damaged by a number of small fires started by an arsonist.

Bedfordshire Fire Service was called to the empty pub The Vine in Castle Street, Luton just after 0001 BST on 21 May.

Local residents reported a fire, but several small blazes were found in the property, which were quickly put out.

Bedfordshire Police said officers believe an accelerant was used to start the fires. It is estimated that it will cost £5,000 to correct the fire damage.

The pub had been closed at the time for refurbishment.
