Singer Kylie Minogue is expected to mark her 40th birthday later with a lavish family dinner in Germany, on a day off from her current European tour.

The star's parents, Ron and Carol, are flying in from her native Australia, while her sister Dannii is also due to join in the celebrations.

Last week Minogue geared up for her big day with an all-night party in Greece, attended by more than 100 guests.

Dozens of fans have left birthday messages in her website's chatroom.

The singer's current run of shows - the X tour - resumes on Thursday in Munich.

She will then play in Geneva, Lyon and Madrid in the coming days, and rounds off the tour with 25 nights in the UK in June, July and August.

These include seven nights at the O2 arena in London.
