Father remanded over baby killing

A man has appeared in court charged with murdering his three-month-old son at their home near Doncaster.

Alfie Goddard died at Sheffield Children's Hospital on Monday after being injured in an incident on Friday, South Yorkshire Police said.

His father, Craig Goddard, 23, of Marton Road, Toll Bar, was remanded in custody when he appeared before Doncaster magistrates on Tuesday.

He is due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday 4 June.

A post-mortem examination revealed Alfie died as a result of a head injury.
