Four sought after canal assault

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 39-year-old man was assaulted and pushed into a canal.

He was approached by a white man and three black men, aged between 17 and 18, as he walked along the towpath towards Old Church Road in Coventry.

They threatened and assaulted the man before pushing him into the canal at about 0100 BST on Sunday 11 May, West Midlands Police said.

He suffered bruising but managed to swim to the other side of the canal.
