Teenager badly hurt in shooting

A teenager is fighting for his life in hospital following a shooting in north London, police have said.

The youth, who is believed to be 17, was shot in the stomach in Girdlestone Walk, Archway, at about 0305 BST on Friday.

He was taken to a local hospital where his condition is described as "life threatening".

Police arrested a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old man near the scene in connection with the incident.

The shooting is being investigated by Operation Trident, which tackles gun crime in the black community.

Metropolitan Police (Met) officers have urged anyone with information to contact them.
