European envoys back in Teheran

Iranian Radio has hailed the return of European Union ambassadors to Teheran after a seven-month diplomatic stand-off as a great victory for Iran.

In a commentary broadcast after the return of the last two envoys -- the French and the German ambassadors -- the radio said the EU had submitted to Iran's demand that the German ambassador return last.

The EU had in fact rejected that demand, but agreed on a two-stage return of its ambassadors.

The EU withdrew its envoys in April after a German court implicated the Iranian state in the killing of four Iranian Kurdish dissidents in Berlin.

Iran responded by recalling its ambassadors in Europe.
