Thursday, November 20, 1997 Published at 07:01 GMT World: West Asia Iranian ambassadors return to EU
Iran has begun sending its ambassadors back to the countries of the European Union.
The move follows the return to Tehran last week of all but two of the EU ambassadors who were withdrawn in April after a German court implicated the Iranian state in the killing of four Iranian Kurdish dissidents in Berlin.
The German and French ambassadors are due to return together on Saturday after the EU rejected an Iranian demand that the German ambassador should return last.
In an apparent reference to Germany the Iranian deputy foreign minister, Morteza Sarmadi, has said Iran will not have the same relations with all EU countries.
He said some countries would have to correct the negative perception that Iran had of them.
