Palestinian statement on PFLP leader's killing
Destroyed office of PFLP leader
Abu Ali Mustafa's office was hit by two Israeli rockets
Excerpts from a statement by the Palestinian National Authority, read out on Palestinian TV:

The great nationalist leader, brother Abu Ali Mustafa, secretary-general of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, was martyred this morning...

This criminal attack was carried out by an Israeli security cabinet decision last night, confirming that the Israeli Government is going ahead with implementing its hostile plan against our people, leadership and establishments...

By this sinful aggression, the Israeli Government confirms that it has launched a full-scale and comprehensive war, with no qualms or red lines.

It has held the denunciations of the international community in contempt and exploited the green light that the US administration is providing by clearly taking sides and supporting the policy of the Sharon government and by refusing to provide international protection for our people - thus dragging the region into a whirlpool of violence and bloodshed.

We assert that this Israeli policy of aggression will never realise security for the Israelis. Indeed, it will have dire consequences for security and stability in the regions and for world peace.

While bidding farewell to an outstanding leader and a prominent and immortal symbol of these great people, we repeat our pledge to him and to all martyrs that we will honour our covenant with them and will continue our march until we realise the noble aims for which they died.

Goodbye, our dear brother, Abu-Ali. Your memory will continue to fill our hearts as you filled them in your lifetime with unshakable determination and strong will, until we wrest our rights and establish our independent state with Jerusalem as its capital...
