Last stone of ancient Mostar bridge retreived from Neretva
Hungarian military divers have successfully raised the last block of stone from the Old Mostar Bridge out of the Neretva river where it collapsed during fighting between Bosnian Muslim and Croat forces four years ago, Hungarian television reported on Monday. It said technical experts in the city were now assessing how the rescued blocks river can be used for a genuine reconstruction of the medieval bridge. The Hungarians, who are serving as part of the international Stabilization Force in Bosnia, have been working since August to find the hundreds of stones which fell into the water during the clashes. The 28-metre-long and 20-metre-high bridge, which is listed as a world heritage site, was built by the Turks in 1566 .
