Election monitors criticise Ukraine results
International observers in Ukraine monitoring yesterday's presidential elections say there were serious irregularities, and voting was far from being free and fair.
But the observers, from the European security organisation, the OSCE, did not say what affect the abuses had on the results.
The incumbent president, Leonid Kuchma, was well ahead of his only other challenger in the run-off polls, the Communist leader, Petro Symonenko.
Mr Symonenko has already protested that he would have won were it not for election fraud.
