Has become one of two dominant figures in the women's game.

Took the title last year by beating Steffi Graf in what proved to be the German great's last match in a Grand Slam.

Over 6ft tall, the personable Davenport has adapted her game to grass and tends to be too powerful for all but a few of her rivals.

Said she realised just how much bigger Wimbledon is by the extra level of recognition she received after last year's title compared with her 1998 US Open crown.
