![]() A former French Open champion and Wimbledon semi-finalist, Sue Barker is BBC TV's main tennis presenter.
Sue achieved a highest ranking of world No 3, but by the mid 1980s injuries had taken their toll and she then launched a second career in sports broadcasting. She started her media work in 1985 with Australia's Channel 7, joined BSB in 1990, and later moved to Sky Sport. Sue made her BBC debut in 1993, co-presenting the evening round-up programme from Wimbledon, and has since become synonymous with the BBC's coverage of the Championships and other major tennis competitions. She is also one of BBC Sport's main general presenters, with Summer and Winter Olympics, Commonwealth Games, World and European Skating Championships, key athletics events and French racing among her credits. Earlier this year, Sue co-presented her first Grand National with the BBC's racing presenter, Clare Balding. She is also a regular host of Sunday Grandstand, one of the presentation team for the BBC's annual Sports Review of the Year, and presents the the long-running quiz show A Question of Sport. Sue received an MBE in February 2000, and will be one of the BBC's key presenters at the Sydney Olympics later this year.
