![]() Pete Sampras wins Wimbledon and boosts his ranking
Pete Sampras' seventh Wimbledon singles title win on Sunday has hoisted him up the ATP Champions race standings from 10th to third.
Sampras, winning the third of the year's Grand Slam events, has 457 points, nearly one hundred points more than long-time rival Andre Agassi, who went out in the Wimbledon semi-finals. The losing finalist at Wimbledon, Australian Pat Rafter, moved up from 52nd place to 13th. French Open winner Gustavo Kuerten of Brazil leads the race with 525 points and the man he defeated in Paris, Magnus Norman of Sweden, is in second with 493 points. Britain's Tim Henman remains in 14th after reaching the fourth round at the All England club before losing to Mark Philippoussis. ATP Champions Race Standings
