Venus Williams booked a place
in her second Wimbledon final - and declared she and her
younger sister Serena were unbeatable.
"It's impossible to beat the two of us," she said after the pair brushed aside Anna Kournikova and Natasha Zvereva in the women's doubles semi-finals. After Thursday's women's singles semi, in which Venus progressed at the expense of Serena, there were tears from the younger sister. But the pair made up by spending the evening at the cinema together.
Serena, however, said the doubles final was no consolation for missing out on the singles final. "I'm still here to do the best that I can do," she said.
"All I can say sometimes is 'Wow, do you need me?'" she said. "At times she was all over the place." Serena could well miss out on inclusion in the American team for the singles competition at the Sydney Olympics, but she is desperate to be in the doubles. "We're the best doubles team America has. It would be a good pick," said Venus. "I think we're doing pretty good as a team."
