Seles looks commanding
Monica Seles
Seles hoping to finally win Wimbledon
(6) M Seles (US) bt S Pitowski (Fra) 6-0 6-3
M Serna (Spa) bt M Oremans (Ned) 4-6 6-4 6-4

Sixth seed Monica Seles stormed past Sarah Pitowski of France with a straight sets victory.

Seles was far too strong for her opponent in the opening set as she raced through for a 6-0 scoreline in just 19 minutes.

Pitowski offered slightly more resistance in the second set but when Seles broke her serve in the sixth game the writing was on the wall.

Seles finally booked her place in the last 16 by taking the second set 6-3.

With nine Grand Slam titles to her name Seles is hoping that this is finally the year that she adds Wimbledon to that collection.

Magui Serna of Spain recovered from losing the first set to defeat Miriam Oremans of the Netherlands.

Oremans took the first set 6-4 but Serna recovered to take the next two 6-4, 6-4.
