Unlucky Latimer is out
(11) A Huber bt L Latimer 5-7 6-3 6-3
British number one Louise Latimer put up a gallant fight but she lost in three sets to 11th seed Anke Huber.
Latimer ran Huber ragged in an extremely close match but the German's higher world ranking finally told as she won 5-7 6-3 6-3.
Huber breathed a huge sigh of relief when she overcame a spirited Latimer to advance into the third round.
But it was a tough battle neither will forget in a hurry.
Latimer won the first set but lost her concentration at the start of the second set to allow Huber to break.
Latimer fought back but was then broken again as the match went to a final set.
There were a number of breaks of serves before Huber broke again to lead 5-2.
Latimer held her own serve but could do nothing as Huber comfortably served for the match.
