Monica Seles lost the first set of her first-round match

Former world number one Monica Seles was given a stern test in her first-round match against Karina Habsudova of Slovakia.

The sixth-seeded American was broken twice as she lost the opening set 6-3, to her opponent who is ranked 53 in the world.

But she bounced back in the second set, breaking in the opening game and again in the seventh game to win it 6-2 in just 20 minutes.

The tense decider went with serve before a lucky net cord helped Seles grab the break to win 7-5.
