Woman killed on M4 is identified

The woman died after a collision with a lorry on the M4 near Newport

The identity of a woman who died after a collision with a lorry on the M4 near Newport has been confirmed by Gwent Police.

Police launched an appeal to identify the pedestrian following the fatal crash at the Caerleon Road junction.

They now know the identity of the woman, who was from Newport, but are not currently releasing her name.

She was struck by a heavy goods vehicle at 10pm on the westbound carriageway of the M4 on 31 October.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by ambulance crews.

The 46-year-old lorry driver was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital as a precaution and later released.
